Music

Lessons

My philosophy in music education is that everything you learn should be applicable to the way that you will use it. Everyone has different goals, and those goals direct the path we take. I periodically revisit your goals to check if they have changed or grown, and to ensure we are keeping course with a direction that is meaningful to you.

This is why I prefer “use it, use it, use it!” as opposed to “Practice, practice, practice!” Yes, practice is absolutely important, but I believe that application is at the core of education.

If you are interested in taking lessons with me, or if you are still shopping around for music teachers for yourself or a loved one, please reach out to me and we can have a conversation to see if I would be a good fit for you as a teacher!

Teaching Philosophy

Communication

I try to do the best job I can while teaching, but please recognize that I am still human and can make mistakes. If you ever feel that there has been a payment or scheduling error, you find that there is too much or not enough work being assigned, or if you feel that there is a subject that is not being communicated properly, please do not hesitate to let me know!

Payment policy

Payment is due at time of scheduling. Lessons must be scheduled 24 hours prior to the start of the lesson. Cancelling or rescheduling must be done 24 hours before the start of the lesson. If you need to cancel with less than 24 hours notice, please contact me. If you are sick do not come to class. If you are sick or have an emergency, you will be given a credit for the following month. I do not give refunds. Payment is still required for no shows and cancellations within 24 without extenuating circumstances.

In an attempt to do what is needed to help keep our community safe, I will be following CDC guidelines for masking and other safety precautions. I will be posting my current policies here to help keep you updated.

As of 4/1/22 I am NOT requiring masks for in person lessons. If you would prefer to have them in lessons please let me know.
